Research
Research is important to The Solution Organisation, because of the emphasis we have on continuous learning. In order to remain at the forefront of the areas in which we work, we need to actively pursue and develop our own research base.
Current research:
Partners in Innovation Project ‘Balanced Value’
This new 2-year project aims to develop a Framework and Toolbox for making construction design choices on the basis of triple bottom line issues (environmental, financial, societal) and performance.
Users will be able to take informed decisions according to the priorities of their particular project, whilst developing an understanding of the functionality of different sustainability and performance tools as directly applicable to their work.

Whole Life Cost Forum (WLCF)
The Whole Life Cost Forum (WLCF) is now nearing the end of it’s 3-year program of research and development. The object of the Forum is to establish an online whole life cost tool for the construction industry. As Chairman of WLCF, Brad Bamfield (The Solution Organisation’s Managing Director) has been closely involved with this work from since it’s inception.

Recycled and Secondary Aggregates Research for WRAP and the DTI
The Solution Organisation has joined TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) in addressing whole life costs and life cycle assessment for secondary and recycled aggregates. The research is being funded by DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) and WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), and will help to influence the future research and action priorities for both DTI and WRAP. The Solution Organisation was asked to participate in this project because of our whole life cost expertise and our particularly strong relationship with WLCF (Whole Life Cost Forum).
